There is no doubt that the combined west has abused its positions to the detriment of others for a long time in all spheres of life.
Finance, trade, technology, resource control, all these things have been high-jacked by the west through institutions they created for its own selfish purposes under the guise of them being ‘international,’ which is as international as IHOP.
IMF, SWIFT, World Bank, BIS, EU, GATT (today WTO), as well as non-financial organizations out there created and hosted by the west, were all created not for the betterment of the world, but for the primary benefit, and enrichment of the US and the rest of the west.
The control of all these organizations allowed the US, and the west in general, to derive massive amount of resources and obligations from other nations, effectively keeping them poor and in arrested development while the west bloomed and prospered.
Various western-created international markets for trading natural resources that belong to other nations are a big part of this western-led fraud and theft.
What pirates and invading marauders once did by fire and sword, the west does through its control over banking and markets. But at the end of the day, it is still plain old plunder.
But the US and the west have crossed all lines, and have started to alienate most of the world from their self-created rapacious systems.
Nations are turning to alternate, non-western institutions which do not dictate unreasonable terms, and cost them large sums for the privilege of being screwed by westerners in return for a pat on the head.
A situation has also been created where the west is being paid to undermine its adversaries, by those same adversaries. This also includes Russia and China, the two countries that stand in the way of continued US hegemony.
Continuing the use of the dollar in international transactions for these two countries is effectively shooting themselves in both legs, and that’s why they have reduced their holdings and use of the dollar to minuscule amounts. Russia and China cannot fund their own demise for the benefit of the US. Those days are over.
The BRICS summit in October holds hope for the creation of an international financial payment and clearing system independent of the west and its abuses.
The US will likely try its old tired and worn out bag of tricks of throwing duffel bags full of increasingly worthless dollars to buy off corrupt elements in countries that want to be a part of BRICS to instigate coups, unrest, and bring to power stale and corrupt pro-US regimes who care a lot more for western interests than they do about the best interests of their own nations. But even this strategy is fizzling out.
By sanctioning everyone just for looking at it the wrong way, the US has undermined its own hegemony and influence. Sanctions complicate things for many countries, and that is why they are now jumping off the US-led bandwagon for other alternatives.
The US has no diplomats worthy of the title, so it resorts to the only things it knows: bribes, bullying, and sanctions. This is the extent of its diplomatic prowess. While this worked for it pretty well 20 or so years ago, when many countries deferred to US diktat, today it is a different story. The US is encountering challenges and increasing amounts of 'NO’s' from more and more nations, so it resorts to outright thuggery. This only hastens its decline.
Time and history are not on the side of the US and the west anymore. Either they learn to get along, or they will be passed by. Poverty and irrelevance will quickly follow.
And while the west can be a part of BRICS and the emerging multi-polar order, the west cannot lead it. Western countries can simply be members, not masters of BRICS, and cannot exploit their membership for their own benefit like they have been doing within their own self-created organizations.
And that is why the west doesn't care for BRICS and sees it as a threat. US especially doesn’t do equality, consensus, compromise, and real diplomacy. They don’t know how, and have no people capable of this.
So they rather stir up wars and unrest to unbalance those who compete successfully and build something for themselves that is better than what the US has. If the US cannot remain on top, it will drag everyone else down with it. That’s the US philosophy in a nutshell.
But the US cannot even afford to this any longer. The conflict in ukraine has exposed it as a paper tiger with flimsy weaponry and no idea of what strategic planning and combined arms warfare against a peer enemy are.
It seems like the US has abused itself the worst with its own lack of self-control and ignorance.
Other countries have other options, but the US, wanting to be the world’s emperor, doesn’t.
And it behooves other nations, especially those in Europe and other current US vassal states to broaden their horizons and look beyond the US-centric world.
Having tunnel vision where only the US and EU matter is a recipe for lost opportunities and much worse economic problems and instability in the future.
These countries must move beyond what they know and are used to, and establish relationships with others, because when these US-devised systems start failing and becoming irrelevant, these countries will suffer.
Do they have the courage to do so?
We shall see, but the hour grows late.
