Iran and the other signatories to the JCPOA have been meeting in Vienna for some months to reinstate the JCPOA after the US violated it in 2018 by leaving without any valid legal reason, and reinstated sanctions on Iran.
Since then, the Trump and now the Biden regimes have been seeking to bring Iran to its knees through what is called the maximum pressure policy.
This policy seeks to make economic life for Iran so difficult that it will be desperate to do whatever the US wants.
However, Iran has shown remarkable resilience. After all, it has been subject to US sanctions for over 40 decades now, so it knows how to deal with it.
Joey Atric has vowed to return to the deal, but since taking office he has been simply following the same zionist-inspired policy that was set by his predecessor.
The US has been quite intransigent, and refuses to lift all the sanctions that it is obligated to lift, and return to the JCPOA.
The US is trying every which way to get something for nothing here, but Iran has insisted that all sanctions must be lifted, and wants guarantees that the US will not leave the agreement again.
The US refuses to give such guarantees; even though Iran’s record of compliance with the deal up to the US withdrawal-and even a year beyond-has been exemplary, with the IAEA time after time deeming Iran in full compliance.
So we can see from these facts that this current impasse is about other things.
If the only aim of the US was to limit Iran’s nuclear program so as to prevent Iran from building a nuclear bomb, then things would not be that bad. After all, Iran’s ability to build nuclear weapons was already reigned in under the terms of the original JCPOA.
But Iran's nuclear program is, and always was just a red herring. What the US really wants is to weaken Iran in every sphere in order to soften it up for an eventual invasion and regime change.
The US wants to basically subordinate Iran to itself politically, militarily, economically, and strategically. What the US wants from Iran goes far beyond just simple uranium enrichment limits and more frequent inspections. The US is on a different wavelength from Iran when it comes to what the JCPOA is, and should be.
In addition to more severe limits on Iran’s nuclear program, the US has also demanded that Iran scrap its ballistic missiles, and stop supporting its allies. Most likely, the US also seeks to seriously limit, or nullify any and all benefits of Iran’s economic, strategic and military cooperation with China and Russia.
In short, the US seeks to isolate Iran and hold it hostage to its whims, while giving Iran limited and temporary sanctions relief, with no guarantees; while seeking to make all of Iran’s restrictions and obligations permanent and irreversible.
That's why there won't be an agreement. Iran would basically have to surrender its national interests and abandon its allies for the US to rejoin it. But that's not gonna happen, especially with Al Raeisi as the new president in power.
Some suspect that the US purposefully stalled these talks, and never had any intention of rejoining the JCPOA, because it wanted a conservative government to come to power that it hopes will be more intransigent during the negotiations. The US can then walk away, blame the impasse on Iran, and go to the UN and get more sanctions passed.
But it's either this, or getting Iran to relent and agree to a deal that would not be good for it in the long-run.
It could also be that the US aim at the beginning of these talks was to wear down and trick Iran into accepting an agreement that the US wanted. But seeing that Iran wasn’t going to be fooled, the US decided that it’s no use, and decided to walk away, but has to make it look like Iran’s fault. We shall see what happens after the new Iranian government is officially sworn in in September.
It is important to know that the JCPOA was conceived by pro-zionist hawks and neo-cons whose aim is to weaken Iran as much as possible. The JCPOA is the tool for this. So naturally, the US will never agree to rejoin this agreement if it doesn't sufficiently weaken Iran, tie its hands, and leave it defenseless and friendless.
So anyone who thinks that the US will lift all sanctions on Iran and return to the deal is dreaming.
The US and the zionists basically want to become the one and only middle-men and arbiters when it comes to any and all relations between Iran and the rest of the world. They want to be the gate-keepers who allow into and out of Iran only that which serves their interests, and prevent Iran from having any direct dealings with partners and sympathizers, or a free hand in dealing with the world. The US and the zionists seek to turn Iran into another besieged Gaza Strip, where they control the crossings and everything coming and going.
This is the ugly criminal nightmare reality that the US and the zionists seek to impose on Iran.
It is also abhorrent that the US paid no price for violating this deal, and even managed to drag the feckless EU into it, along with some other fools.
Now, the US is even attempting to gaslight Iran to make it look like
it was the first and only party to violate the JCPOA, and must be held accountable.
If there was any justice in the world, the US would’ve been held accountable, and be the one sanctioned and ostracized. But instead, the scofflaw US victimizer got away with the crime, while the law-abiding Iranian victim got punished.
In order for there to be a deal, one side will have to surrender to the other.
